Well
loved by national poet and writer Quasimodo, Mount Tindari is the
eldest “inhabitant” of Patti overlooking the Gulf, creating a
spectacular and breath-taking view for the contemplative souls. Of
particular interest is the constantly changing of shape you can admire
on one of the best-known beaches of the area, the Laghi di Marinello
(the Marinello Lakes ). The unique phenomenon is due to the rapid and
changing direction and strength of the wind, which acts like a musical
instrument in the hands of a virtuoso performer. . .
On
the mountaintop of Tindari, at 300mt of height, lies the sanctuary with
the statue of the Black Madonna. Here, you can also visit the ruins of
an old urbs romana (probably destroyed by a climatic disaster) and the remaining Greek amphitheatre dated back to the III century b.C. |

Patti
is a small village on the East Coast of Sicily, kissed by the sun for
most of the year. It is surrounded by the wild and massive mountain
chain of Nebrodi on the south side, while gently brushed by the sea on
its northern border. Relax and enjoy the warmth of the hot sun while
overlooking of the nearby Eolie Islands , which are well-known among
the tourists and the locals for their timeless daily shows of water and
fire. The tiny little streets and steps will enable you to discover the
secrets of the historical centre, where you can appreciate the old
replications of medieval shops, the “ bummuli ”. However, if
you are after a lively night life, with music and entertainment to keep
you going until the morning, then you should go towards the louder and
relatively modern seafront. The ancient-looking “ lampare” (typical small fishing boats) still give the marina its old style characteristic charm. |

Patti
was originally founded in the VIII century A.D. From the town`s
historical centre you can enjoy the fabulous view of the Gulf that lies
beneath. Also a must is to admire the ruins of an old roman Villa
dating back to the 3rd century A.D. The Cathedral contains the tomb of
the famous countess Adelasia dei Palermitani, a very influential woman
in the old XII century Sicily , mother of King Ruggero d`Altavilla. Patti
is among the most famous locations on the island of Sicily known for
ceramics production; evidence of this old artistic tradition can be
found inside Villa Pisani, in Marina di Patti, which houses the Old
Ceramics of Patti Museum |

THE PARK OF NEBRODI MOUNTAINS |
Nebrodi
Mountains, Peloritani and Madonie constitute the Sicilian Apennines,
bordering on the northern side with the Tyrrhenian Sea and on the
southern side with the Alcantara River (whose head is in Nebrodi
themselves) and the upper stream of the Simeto River . The area is
overgrown and the landscape is characterised by a humid climate and
round-pointed relieves (with sporadic chalky displays which give a more
irregular and rough appearance to the surface). The highest peak is
1847mt ( Mount Soraino ). Its high altitude pasture land, peaceful
lakes and vigorous streams are the least known aspects of Sicily ,
contrasting the common view of the island as an arid and linear
territory. |
